Being one of Michaelangelo’s, Original Sin serves a creative variety of Vegetarian Mediterranean cuisine. Its co-founder, Chef Marisa Bertocchi, constantly creates and invents the distinctive Mediterranean flavours from her creative use of herbs, spices, and cheese, making her dishes stand-out from your usual vegetarian varieties.
Located along the famed Chip Bee Garden (CBG) restaurant street, Original Sin is often patronised not only by the neighbourhood expats, but also many who wants to experience the casual and vibrant atmosphere in the upbeat CBG district.

The Menu
Broccoli Pesto – $26.00
Spaghetti tossed with broccoli, cashews, french beans, and walnut pesto, with a touch of chilli and parmesan to bring out the maximum flavours.
I often prepare pesto pasta myself, so this dish did not reach my expectations for its price tag. I’d recommend to give it a miss and try other dish instead.

Absolut – $26.00
Penne pasta with Australian asparagus, button mushrooms, spinach, calsicums, and onions. They are then flamed with Absolut vodka, in a pink sauce with a touch of Parmesan.
The pink sauce was such a fabulous touch to the dish, the flavours were simply amazing. It is definitely one of my Absolut favourites!

Vegetable Tandoori – $26.00
The button mushrooms, eggplants, capsicums, onions, and tofu are all marinated in tandoori spices and char-grilled to perfection. Served with yoghurt, mango chutney, and a small portion of rice, this dish will definitely surprise your pallette.
Being an Indian cuisine fanatic, I give this dish all thumbs up!

Moussaka – $26.00
This dish consists layers of char-grilled eggplants, tomatoes, potatoes and lentils complimented with the essence of middle eastern spices and white sauce + sprinkled paprika on the top, then baked to perfection.
If you fancy a 100% vegetarian, rich, and extra-flavourful lasagna-alike, give this unique dish a try!

Risotto – $26.00
The risotto is my number 1 favourite among all dishes. rich and creamy yet you will not get tired of the flavours. The cheese compliments the dish so well when it melts on the rice and into your mouth!
However, this dish may be unavailable on certain days as it is a daily special dish written on the board hanging outside of the restaurant. So far, I’ve managed to order this dish whenever I visit the restaurant. Lucky me!

Special Notes
The board hanging outside of the restaurant will usually indicate the daily specials. Have a good look before you order, you may be in luck for a very unique dish!
I’ve tried their broccoli soup on my first visit, and since then I was never able to see this dish on the board whenever I visit again. It was oh-so-delicious!
If you do not take onions nor garlic, you can opt these ingredients out upon ordering so they can adjust the dishes accordingly. You can opt for Vegan or Gluten-free options too!
Conclusion
Original Sin is not your usual vegetarian restaurant. It is a finer creative alternative to your common vegetarian options when you are looking to break from your routine diet. The prices are on the higher end, but I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Afterall, you need to indulge yourself in the sinful delicacies once in a while!
